Our client, a global leader in the production equipment manufacturing sector is looking to add an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer (with experience in Allen Bradley PLC programming) to their team. This role will be responsible for engineering and design of instrument & control systems for the process equipment packages. The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will primarily work with Allen Bradley software & Hardware. The I&C Engineer will require extensive knowledge of ladder logic programming, and working knowledge of power systems, both low and medium power supplies. Occasionally, this I&C Engineer may be required to work with Siemens PLC, RSLogix along with other supporting software. A hands-on approach and mindset will be needed to be successful in this role.
This Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that project scope of work for equipment package control system designs are clearly defined for the project and execution of control system architecture based on customer specification and project requirements. Additionally, this I&C Engineer will provide support to and work in conjunction with the Project Managers, Project Engineers and customer representatives to understand the desired functioning of equipment and implement PLC and HMI programs to achieve the desired functionality in a safe and efficient manner.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Review customer specifications and prepares technical specifications defining the control requirements on the project for third party control system Design/Manufacturing Company.
• Review and manages deliverables of the control system to be in compliance with the requirement of the project. • Understand hazardous area classification requirements to finalize, design and layout of the electrical/control instrumentation on a package. • Size instrument cables, junction boxes, conduit, cable trays and layout of instrument/electrical on the package within the guidelines of Oil & Gas industry codes and standards. • Prepare controls schematic, cable schedule, wiring diagrams and logic diagrams. • Design, develop, and debug PLC based programs and electrical control systems. • Participate in HAZOP/HAZID, LOPA, SIL Analysis, etc. as required by projects. • Provide engineering support to procurement for instrumentation and control systems. • Provide support to manufacturing during assembly of the package, inspection, calibration, loop checking, and factory acceptance test (FAT). • Provide start-up assistance during commissioning of equipment package at site. • Develop operating procedures, acceptance test and validation test plans and protocols. • Develop engineering design tools and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy of work. • Identify and execute product standardization opportunities and participates in new product development programs. • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Control Engineering is required, paired with five to ten years of experience in the field.
This Instrumentation & Control Engineer must demonstrate the technical skills required to read and understand Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams and industry standards. Preferred Experience: • Working experience with Compression or other Rotating Equipment. • Timely problem-solving skills, proven ability to work within a team environment with the ability to lead a project and ability to prioritize responsibilities. • Advanced PC skills including word processing and spreadsheet usage required.
